Quick, get your photos in! The Invasive Animals Cooperative Research Centre is running its annual photo competition and you have until Friday 2 September 2016 to lodge your entries.
The centre has run the competition each year for six years to highlight the issue of feral animals across Australia.
Jessica Marsh, Natural Resource Management facilitator with NSW Department of Primary Industries for the Research Centre, initiated the competition. She notes that “Great photos and footage have been entered this year and we welcome more entries. Whether you’re a budding photographer, videographer or just managed to snap a great shot with a smart phone – we want them all.”
“The photo competition is a great tool to highlight one of our national problems and we are looking forward to seeing what video footage and stills Australians have to offer in 2016.”
There will be prizes, with gift vouchers valued at $100 to $400 for use with selected vendors for 1st, 2nd and 3rd photography prizes, for best video, for best remote camera image and for a People’s Choice award. Each person may lodge up to five entries by uploading them at www.pestsmart.org.au/feral-photos. Pest Smart warns entrants to act safely and “obey warning signs in areas where animal control may be occurring”. I take to mean that you should be aware of shooters trying to eradicate feral animals.
